The Water is Life Rally and Big Day Out to Ban Fracking was a huge success!
Hundreds of people from across the Territory gathered at Parliament House in Darwin to send a clear message to the NT and Federal Governments: Water is Life – Ban Fracking.
People from Alice Springs, Yuendumu, Borroloola, Elliot, Mataranka, Katherine, and the Top End travelled to the event. We heard from farmers, station owners, health professionals, Traditional Owners and tourism operators. Fracking is not worth the risks to our water. Nowhere in the Territory should be a sacrifice zone.
For those who couldn't attend, or to catch a glimpse of yourself in the wonderful packed crowd, please watch and share this very special Water is Life Rally video on Facebook.
We are making a difference!
Now is an important time to remind your local Member of Parliament of your position on fracking.
The NT Cabinet is slated to make their decision on fracking in March. Please get their attention by writing them a friendly Christmas card, with best wishes for a safe and frack free 2018, and drop it into their office. Every little note counts, ask your friends to do the same.
Let's keep talking to our elected representatives, friends, family and neighbours about the risks fracking poses to our water. If you’re not sure what to say, check out our fact sheets on the Don’t Frack the Territory website here.
Together we can ban fracking!
