Waste Free NT Update July

Our Waste Free NT Community have been working passionately to reduce the waste that we are sending to landfill in Darwin.

We are very excited to say that soon we will launch our Waste Free NT website!! In other great news, Waste Free NT has been successful in our City of Darwin 'Climate and Environment' Grant to build and operate a 'Wash against Waste' trailer. This fully stocked trailer with reusable cups, plates, cutlery, smoothie cups and laksa bowls will be at markets and events, providing market packs for hire, reducing the need for single use plastic containers.

In the meanwhile, we are planning to have a stall at Parap Market on the 7th and 21st of July to promote the 'Plastic Free July Challenge'.

Come say hello and make your pledge to refuse single-use plastic. If you want to volunteer with us at our Waste Free NT Parap Market stall, put your availability in the form below:

Some other exciting news is that the City of Darwin are exploring the phase out of single use plastic from their own events and potentially other events on Council land.

WFNT is giving support to write a report for their plastic-free options.

WFNT encourage our community to write a personal letter to the Lord Mayor and Aldermen sharing what waste management strategy they’d like to see in Darwin.  You can find the contact details in your electorate with button below.
