Environment Centre NT - protecting nature, living sustainably, creating climate for a change

Annual Fundraising Film Night and Seabreeze Festival

We want to let you, our members and supporters know how well the Events during the Seabreeze Festival went in case you missed them.
Professor Tim Flannery was an ideal guest, and with his very strong standing in the scientific community and experience as CEO of the Climate Council his views on the future of gas in the Territory on the ABC were noted by many including politicians. Professor Flannery was very generous with his time and spent a couple of hours with Shar and a small number of members hearing about current environment issues facing the NT. This knowledge was put to good use during the public sessions over the weekend.
Visitors to our stall on Saturday allowed us to make many new connections as well as to re-engage with old ones.
Our Film night on Sunday went well with a large, receptive crowd which paid close attention to Professor Flannery as he spoke about the fantastic opportunities we have here to avoid many of the environmental issue facing communities throughout the globe. However he stressed that protection of our precious and unique top end environment is dependent on everyone becoming involved !

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers, cake makers, raffle tickets sellers for helping us make this a successful event.

Of course, we couldn’t have done it without the support of these generous local businesses.

Hanuman Restaurant, who have again donated a large portion of the meal takings. Deckchair Cinema, for hosting our Annual Fundraising Film Night. Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival for all their support and partnership in bringing Tim Flannery to Darwin. Jim Smith from Sea Darwin for the double pass on a Sunset Fish’n’Chips cruise. The NT General Store, for their donation of a luxury, robust camping chair. Readback Books for a gorgeous painting. The Groove Cafe, for a $50 voucher.

Please support these businesses whenever you can as they have supported us over many years.
